Peace Day

"Hear, see, be silent, if you want to live in peace."
"Hear all, see all and speak out for freedom and liberty, if you want to live in peace."
The Daily Express accused Gandhi of failing to recognize that the civil disobedience movement launched in 1930 had led to mass violence in various parts of the country. It was in the forefront of the demand that the severest measures possible be taken to crush the movement. Irwin rejected this demand, saying :"However emphatically we may condemn the civil disobedience movement, we should, I am satisfied, make a profound mistake if we underestimate the genuine and powerful meaning of nationalism that is today animating much of Indian thought, and for this no complete or permanent cure has ever been or ever will be found in strong" action by the Government.

Peace Day Report

Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek but a means by which we arrive at that goal.

CLASS – IV
CLASS – IV – A
K.R.M. World School G.K.II, celebrated Peace Day on the eve of the Mahatma’s birthday. Class IV A put in their share of ideas by designing and making “Peace Ribbons” using multi coloured  satin ribbons. They expressed their creative skills by modifying and adding slogans, symbols like the dove and the peace symbol to these arrays of rainbow bands which were woven into patterns and made into roses and different shapes. This activity helped their young minds to share, co-operate and work harmoniously forgetting differences of caste, colour, creed. Each extended a helping hand and went to help the slower children to finish the task of creating the Peace ribbons. As a Class Teacher, it was indeed a joy and fulfilling experience to see them fulfill in their own small way the ideals of the Father of the Nation. The class had imbibed and learnt yet another life skill –the value of peace, love
and brotherhood. A small step to making a peaceful Global village!

CLASS IV – D

Peace Day was celebrated on 30th September 2009 in our school K.R.M. in the form of class activities. Different classes performed different activities like collage making, peace symbols etc.

Peace Day activity for class IV-D was to make peace doves which could be hung in the classroom or reception. Children of class IV-D made beautiful doves out of paper. The body was stiff paper and the wings were made by thinner paper. Instructions were given to the children on board and they followed it very well and decorated the doves with markers and glitters. They secured the body of dove with clear tape and also joined the ends of the tail feather together making it fan shaped. They also inserted a string to the body of the dove for hanging it.

It was an interesting activity and the class enjoyed it very much.

Class – V

K.R. Mangalam World School celebrated a ‘Peace-week’ to mark the occasion of ‘Gandhi Jayanti.’  On the 30th of September, 2009, the students of class V took part in a collage chart making activity in which they portrayed their ideas and opinions on peace.  The class was divided into groups of 4 students each and within 1 ½ hr they beautifully penned their thoughts and views.  Gandhiji’s efforts in maintaining peace were highlighted.  The children drew acts of terrorism and violence in black and grey contrasting them with white and green promoting peace and harmony.  One of the groups also highlighted the cruelties of the British rule against the simplicity of Gandhian principles.

The main aim was to teach our students about peaceful co-existence and spreading love and brotherhood.  This was achieved through this activity as the students responded with great enthusiasm and made a firm decision to follow the ideals of honesty, peace and non-violence.
