The land of Vedas, vibrant culture, rich heritage, that’s our motherland- India. A country that emerged from the shadows of the British rule and carved a name for itself, as a force to reckon with. It was with great pride that the students at K.R. Mangalam World School celebrated the Republic Day.
Various interesting activities were carried out on 20th January 2010 in which the students participated with great ardour. Through these activities, they not only gained a deeper knowledge about their motherland but also acknowledged the greatness of the country in all the spheres. The students  were drenched in patriotism and the ‘Incredible India’ left an undeniable impact on their little hearts!!

CLASS-III
As a part of Republic Day Celebrations, the students of Class III were given worksheets on the National Symbols. They had to name and colour the symbols. It was a sight to watch them complete the task enthusiastically. They not only named and coloured the symbols but also wrote about identification of each symbols… from the lotus, the symbol of ‘truth’ to the 24 spokes of the wheel in the flag!!!!

CLASS-IV:
ClassIV-A: The students took part in a group activity. They had to make charts or a collage on Famous Tourist Attractions in India. One could see the artist in them blossoming as they drew Qutab Minar, the famous Lotus Temple, The Red Fort on the charts. They also mentioned what each place was famous for. It was interesting to know the enthusiasm when they talked about these palces.

CLASS IV-B: The students had to make a collage on ‘Gandhiji and his life’. They were divided into groups of five for the activity. The students came up with interesting photographs and information on Gandhiji, the leader of the nation…. The one who guided us towards freedom. The students also talked about his principles of non – violence, satyagrah etc and linked it with class room situations.

CLASS IV-C: The students participated in a group activity in which they had to prepare a collage on the topic ‘India then and now’. It not only was an interesting topic but also required the students to do a lot of brainstorming. They made very informative collages. It was like a flashback on one hand and a peep into the future!

CLASS IV-D: The students took part in an individual activity where they had to write as well as draw on India of My Dreams. It was definitely an eye-opener to know what our young minds dreamt of future India. The students realised that there is still a long way to go for Indians and where can they contribute in the country’s growth.

CLASS IV-E: The students had to make the Indian Flag and write a quotation on it. It was a very colourful and interesting activity. The true symbols of the stripe colours and the wheel reflected in the zest of the students!

Class IV-F: The students participated in a group activity where they had to make charts on Famous Indians in the field of education/science. They made very informative charts on eminent Indians like Homi Bhabha, Dr. Kalam, Tagore, Sri Aurbindo, Ramunujan, Amartya Sen, Dr. Bose, C.V.Raman etc. This not only enhanced their knowledge but also made them proud of these great achievers who showed us the way…… the way to prosperity

CLASS V:
The students of Class V took part in Slogan Writing. Their talent was reflected in the way they wrote about their love for their motherland. Their slogans reflected the pride as well as their concern for their country.
