SPI C MACAY AT K.R.MANGALAM

K R Mangalam World School believes in the holistic development of its students by maintaining the right balance between academics and co curricular activities. In keeping with the same tradition, K.R.Mangalam World School considers it a matter of pride to have hosted Spic Macay on 29 April, 2011.The guests were the renowned Kathak dancer Ms. Uma Sharma, Mr. Imran Khan, Mr. Mubarak Ali and Mr. Khalid Mustafa. The guests’ schools present were D.P.S., Indirapuram, D.P.S.International, Don Bosco School, Blue Bells International School and our sister schools- Summer Fields School and K.R.Mangalam World School, Vikas Puri.                    .
The programme started with the lighting of the propitious lamp by Ms. Uma Shankar, Dr. G. S. Adhikari, the Academic Coordinators of the school- Mrs. Ranjana Patney, Mrs. Chitra B., Mrs. Suhani Daur and Mrs. Renu Bhambari. The guest, Ms. Sharma, has been the proud recipient of the prestigious National Awards, such as the Padma Bhushan [in 2001], Padma Shree [in 1973], the Sangeet Natak Academy Award and the Delhi Sahitya Kala Parishad Award. Uma ji has also introduced famous Hindi and Urdu poets like Ghalib, “Neeraj”, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Tagore, Meera, Tulsidas, Surdas, Kalidas to dance.
The students of K.R.Mangalam and other guests’ schools were enlightened by the dance presented by Ms. Uma Sharma. In the end, Ms. Shankar and other guests were presented a token of thanks by Dr. G. S. Adhikari, Mrs. Suhani Daur and Mrs. Renu Bhambhari.
