ALBERT EINSTEIN:
The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious - the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science. To envision a world without science is to think of the impossible. Imagine a world bereft of the
myriad contributions of science. No computers or cars; no vaccines or cures for diseases, no technology to help us negotiate the demands of modern life. It is science that has helped us evolve from primitive apes to the modern civilized form. If science has intrigued and challenged us to unravel the mysteries of the world, it has also, like a true friend, provided solutions to the multifarious problems that
confront us in our daily lives. Awe, wonder, hope, etc. are some of the many emotions that accompany the mention of science.
K R Mangalam world school held the science week ANVESHAN, a celebration of the wonders of science. The week long extravaganzas were marked by board displays, symposium, quiz, fancy dress, magical science, design your own rocket activity and culminated with an exhibition.
Day 1 : Identify the scientists
Day 2 : Abbreviations
Day 3 : Identification of pictures
Day 4 : Crossword
Day1: The Science week was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by Dr. A.Mukhopadhyay Adviser Department of science and technology and Dr Kanchan Kataria a practicing dentist and an ardent social worker.
The day was marked by interhouse symposium competition (class IX). The four houses were allotted different topics in fields still under research like Genetically modified organisms, nanotechnology, possibility of life on moon and harnessing nuclear fusion. The young minds enthusiastic presentation left the audience awe struck. Dr Mukhopadhayay appreciated the efforts. The second event was the fancy dress competition of our tiny tots, dressed up like the brain, skeleton system, sun, scientists etc. The confidence with which each one of them spoke left the chief guest with all praises.
Day2: Science quiz with a difference for class VI, VII and VIII marked day 2. The rounds included creativity round and activity round: as all agree science is all about hands on experience Within 8 minutes the four teams created a pin hole camera, solar cooker, reuse, recycle bin and musical KRM from waste material given to them.
Day3: It was time to meet our young rocket scientists, explaining the aerodynamics and stages of their own self designed rocket models with the help of a power point presentation and model of rocket. The judges Dr. Adhikari, our examination in charge and Dr. Ganju, our academic advisor appreciated the effort of the children.
