To salute the latent talent of its budding artists and to award the achievements of its sportsmen, K R Mangalam World School,G K II celebrated its Annual Sports Fiesta ‘JOSH’, on 07 Dec at Thyagaraj Sports Complex. The celebrations were in tandem with the school’s motto “ Together Towards Tomorrow” under which path breaking initiatives are taken, year after year, so as to give students exposure to world class education-along with developing their co curricular talents.
The Principal, Mrs Renu Jain, commenced the proceedings with a welcome to the Chairman, Mr Yash Dev Gupta and the Vice Chairman Mr Jai Dev Gupta and the Chief Guest – Mr Desh Deepak Verma, IAS, Director General, Sports Authority of India (SAI) .In his address, Mr Desh Deepak Verma shared his considered views on the purpose of today’s education and the pioneering role played by K.R.Mangalam Group of Schools. He endorsed the emphasis laid by the school on sports adding that sports are no longer on the back burner, with parents wanting their children to excel in sporting arenas !. He also talked of the role of SAI in this regard. |

The function began with the lighting of ceremonial torch and release of balloons. The Student Council then welcomed the august gathering. The School Choir presented the song ‘Josh’ followed by March Past by the Prefects and all the four houses. The School Report next voiced the achievements and contributions of students and teachers, reflecting and reverberating their accomplishments. Various track events in Senior and Junior catergories were then held. Seeing the proud parents and students cheering the participants was adequate motivation-filling the participants with added zest and fervor. Next on the schedule came classical dances of India- in an item titled ‘Spandan’ which saw the amalgamation of Kathak, Mohiniattam, Chhav and Kuchipudi. To add colour to the field came an enthralling butterfly drill ‘The Peppy Papillion’ followed by ‘Ageless Warriors’ presenting a chess dance. The tiny tots mesmerized everybody when they presented Drill O’Thrill and The Twirling Umbrellas. Gyeorugi showcasing combat techniques and exercises and Yoga techniques were presented by students of the Junior school. `Safety Wins’ was the next event-emphasizing the need to follow traffic rules and regulations. The programme culminated on the beats of Bhangra with the senior school students putting their dancing feet forward. The show stealer was when all the participants came on the field and made the word ‘Josh’ with torches in their hands. The sight left all captivated and KRMites left an ever lasting impression on all present. Mrs Suhani Daur proposed the Vote of Thanks. |
