INVIATATIONAL INTER SCHOOL CHESS TOURNMENT 
MANGALAM MATRIX 
28TH – 31ST Oct. 2009. 
K R Mangalam World school.GK II hosted an Invitational Inter-School Chess Tournament from October 28, 2009 to October 31,2009 which was based on a Swiss League format and was played in two categories ( Under- 12 & Under-16). A total of 5 rounds were played in each category.  
U-12 CATEGORY 
Atotal of 16 teams from different schools participated in this category. There were lots of international rated players in this category which also includes current Asia Champion Harshal Shahi of R S Junior Modern School. But K.R Mangalam G.K-II defeated R S Junior Modern School in the 3rd round, and Modern School, Vasant Vihar ( which also has international rated players) very convincingly in the final round. 
The top 3 Prize winning schools and final standings are as follows:

2 Amity International, Pushp Vihar   14pts

U-16 CATEGORY 
A total 12 teams from different schools participated in this category. In this category also,there were lots of international rated players. Top teams like Modern School Vasant Vihar, Sanskriti School and K R Mangalam World School, G.K-II were in the contention for the top spot. But K.R. Mangalam lost the finals against Modern School,Vasant Vihar and were placed 2nd in the Merit List. 
We played with Amity International, Mayur Vihar and defeated them in the first round. In second round also, we beat St. Mary’s School, New Delhi. In the 3rd Round, we drew with Sanskriti School and in the 4rh round, we defeated Amity International, Pushp Vihar convincingly. In the final round, we lost against Modern school, Vasant Vihar very narrowly with a margin of 1.5 – 2.5. 
The Final standings are as follows:

  3. Sankriti School, Chanakyapuri    12 pts

      The rolling trophy was bagged by Modern School, Vasant Vihar as their team total points in both categories were 29, whereas K.R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II total was 28.
