INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE

Ritu Sachdeva
The International Exchange Coordinator

A global environment demands the expansion of ones boundaries to reach out and assimilate the best the world offers. Furthering the same tradition, the school has entered into collaboration with Australia, Canada, Germany and U.K Schools and collaborations with France and Denmark are on the anvil. The exchange programmes provide the students with a window to the culture and customs of other countries. Moreover, the participants become more integrated and get to know one another better, thereby learning what it means to be responsible. Exchange programmes help the children to pledge to follow their own dreams and to help others with similar goals .They are also effective ways of opening the doors to new educational opportunities and can help build bridges of understanding among students from a diversity of countries . In addition to this, the Exchange Programmes help in removing prejudices and intercultural communication barriers and in giving students a global exposure and networking possibilities with their respective counterparts.

NASA TRIP
Our team of 58 future Astronauts set off for the trip to NASA, Kennedy Space Centre , Orlando in April , 2011. The students visited Kennedy Space Center (KSC), where young people experience, imagine and interact through space shuttle mission simulations and get a chance to witness first hand the everyday challenges faced by astronauts. The Students were put into the shoes of an astronaut for a day. Using the motion based astronaut training simulators modeled after the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle Programs, students got to experience the training that astronauts do before they launch into space. Some of the motion based simulators included the Multi-Axis trainer, Micro-Gravity Wall and T-Chair (trajectory). They also got an opportunity to meet an actual NASA astronaut Fred Gregory, who made a presentation about his experiences in space and the future of space exploration.
