Report on Peace Day celebrations in Classes Nur. – V
K.R Mangalam World School celebrated peace week from 29th September 2009 to 1st of October 2009 which means a lot more than just a few days to put across our message of unity. It is an opportunity for the whole community to get together to promote initiatives and values that make a real difference to peace and safety around us.
"The main objective of the Peace Week was to promote and increase awareness amongst the people for the need for peace in today's world" for which we need to work together to nurture the soul of each individual and spread the message of peace, understanding, and love.

CLASS I
The week 29/9 to 1/10 was celebrated as Peace week. The children were told about Mahatama Gandhi and his principles of Peace, Non Violence, truth and Non-cooperation.
To mark the occasion the children made book marks and decorated them. One child from each section was traditionally dressed in white and held a charkha in their hand. They spoke about Gandhiji and his ideals.
Children were told that Gandhiji was also known as ‘Bapu, Mahatama and Father of the Nation.’ He stressed on wearing khadi cloth which was handwoven from cotton yarn on a charkha.
CLASS - II
The teachers discussed the principles and writings of Mahatma Gandhi. The significance of the ‘Charkha’ (spinning wheel) was inculcated in them as they beautifully coloured the picture of it. They were also amazed to know that the charkha symbolized the actions and beliefs of Mahatma Ghandhi.
Children even made a craft on peace and unity in which they wrote the names of their friends and family whom they always want to live with, in love and harmony.
CLASS - III
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, our school celebrated peace week from 29Sept to 2Oct 09.
Various activities were planned all across the school that included a peace march and a cultural program as its main features. Class III carried out a collage making activity.

DESCRIPTION-The students were divided into groups.They were given cut-outs of peace symbols like doves, joined hands, white flowers etc. The students used their imagination and pasted the symbols beautifully. The charts were then displayed on a bulletin board.

CLASS – IV
CLASS – IV – A
K.R.M. World School G.K.II, celebrated Peace Day on the eve of the Mahatama’s birthday on 1Oth October 2009. Class IV A put in their share of ideas by designing and making “Peace Ribbons” using multi coloured satin ribbons. They expressed their creative skills by modifying and adding slogans, symbols like the dove and the peace symbol to these arrays of rainbow bands which were woven into patterns and made into roses and different shapes. This activity helped their young minds to share, co-operate and work harmoniously forgetting differences of caste, colour, creed.Each extended a helping hand and went to help the slower children to finish the task of creating the Peace ribbons. As a Class Teacher, it was indeed a joy and fulfilling experience to see them fulfill in their own small way the ideals of the Father of the Nation. The class had imbibed and learnt yet another life skill –the value of peace, love
and brotherhood. A small step to making a peaceful Global village!

CLASS IV –B
On the occasion of Peace Day which was celebrated at the KR Mangalam World School on 30 Sep 2009, the students of Class IV –B participated enthusiastically in “Peace Lamp” making activity. All the students of the class displayed their creativity and talent by putting on show colourful lamps reflecting the need for peaceful and cordial coexistence among various cultures and nations all around.

CLASS IV –C
On the occasion of Peace Day which was celebrated at the KR Mangalam World School on 30 Sep 2009, the students of Class IV –C participated enthusiastically in “Peace Hand’ making activity. All the students of the class displayed their creativity and talent by putting on neatly traced hand cut out with a picture of dove in the peace means to them, how can there be peace etc. Then these hands were displayed in the class.

CLASS IV – D
Peace Day was celebrated on 30th September 2009 in our school K.R.M. in the form of class activities. Different classes performed different activities like collage making, peace symbols etc.
Peace Day activity for class IV-D was to make peace doves that can be hanged in classroom or reception. Children of class IV-D made beautiful doves out of paper. The body was stiff paper and the wings were made by thinner paper. Instructions were given to the children on board and they followed it very well and decorated the doves with markers and glitters. They secured the body of dove with clear tape and also joined the ends of the tail feather together making it fan shaped. They also inserted a string to the body of the dove for hanging it up.
It was an interesting activity and the class enjoyed it very much.

CLASS IV – E
Students drew peace symbols on paper plates and decorated them beautifully. It was a learning experience as the students also shared their thoughts on peace. Picture of Peace Symbols |

Class IV- F
In order to celebrate Peace Day, a class room activity was organized in class IV-F where children were encouraged to prepare “Peace Doves”. They were asked to get the cut outs of “Doves”, which they were further instructed to decorate using materials like buttons, pencil shavings , cloth, mirrors, sparkle, colored papers etc. After preparation by each kid, it was collaged together. Further, the kids were explained the importance of “Peace Day” and they were also encouraged to express their thoughts.
In all, it was a fun filled activity and a great learning experience.

Class – V
K.R. Mangalam World School, GK-II celebrated a ‘Peace-week’ to mark the occasion of ‘Gandhi Jayanti.’ On the 30th of September, 2009, the students of class V took part in a collage chart making activity in which they portrayed their ideas and opinions on peace. The class was divided into groups of 4 students each and within 1 ½ hr they beautifully penned their thoughts and views. Gandhiji’s efforts in maintaining peace were highlighted. The children drew acts of terrorism and violence in black and grey contrasting them with white and green promoting peace and harmony. One of the groups also highlighted the cruelties of the British rule against the simplicity of Ghandian principles.
The main aim was to teach our students about peaceful co-existence and spreading love and brotherhood. This was achieved through this activity as the students responded with great enthusiasm and made a firm decision to follow the ideals of honesty, peace and non-violence.

MONTHLY ACTIVITY – CLASS IV
MONTH-OCTOBER
The monthly activity for class IV in October was HAM to JAM. It was conducted on 30th October 2009 in all the sections, where the participants spoke for half a minute in tandem with their partners. The topics for the activity were given to the students well in advance so that they could prepare well. The activity brought to light their talent and enhanced their confidence to present their ideas in front of the classmates. It definitely was a tough task for the teachers to choose the winners as the participants were outstanding. But as it is said ‘the winner takes it all….,’ the students who performed better and secured the top positions were:

TEAR AND PASTE ACTIVITY
MONTHLY ACTIVITY – CLASS III
MONTH-OCTOBER
A TEAR AND PASTE activity was organized for the students of class-III.
The aim was to bring forth the creativity and imagination of the students in a constructive and organized form.The students were to do this activity based on one of the following topics:
1.Road Scene
2.A Beautiful Scenery
3.Out In The Garden
Each child was provided with the drawing sheets, glaze paper of different colours, crayons and fevicol.They beautifully used their imaginations and the resuls were worth appreciating.Aboard exhibiting their creative work was displayed at the reception in order to encourage the talent of our little ones. |
