Messages From The Desk

Dear Parents,
We would like to extend our heartfelt greetings for a happy & prosperous 2010.
As we begin preparations to usher in the academic year 2010-11, it’s time to reflect on the school’s journey in 2009. The highlights of the year were the myriad awards & accomplishments of our students & teachers in spheres as diverse as academics, literary realm, music, dance & fine arts. The year also marked the introduction of several new initiatives by the school. The school took up the holistic development of the students with an unprecedented zeal. Yoga, Photography, Origami & several other activities were introduced to enhance the creative skills, health & confidence of the students. We took up the Continuous & Comprehensive scheme of evaluation with alacrity & ensured a smooth execution of the same by conducting workshops & providing relevant information on the school’s website. The special assemblies, functions & presentations mirrored our students’ creativity & exuberance. The school initiated an exchange program with Germany, thus pledging its support to international brotherhood & facilitation of new ideas & views.
The school launched its monthly e-magazine, Nirantar in the month of November. Nirantar is our conduit to reach out to the world; besides providing a platform to the students to voice their views & opinions, the magazine also highlights the awards & accomplishments of our students. The magazine can be viewed at http://gk2.krmangalam.com.We solicit your views & innovative ideas regarding the shape & content of the magazine in the coming months.
On the academic front we ensured that material of the best quality was readily available to the students. In pursuit of the same, we designed curriculum booklets for all classes & prepared two hundred fully solved questions across all subjects for the board classes.
As we embark on our next journey in pursuit of excellence, we wish to enlighten you about our initiatives in the 2010-11 session: As per the Delhi School Education Rules 1973, a school has to put in 1000 hours of study time. Out of these, 180 days are to be devoted to classroom lectures/academics, and another 20days are to be put aside for examinations and remedial classes for students who may be lagging behind in academic work.. In order to ensure smooth execution of the same, we have divided the academic year into two semesters of 90 days each. Each semester would contain 9 cycles of 10 days each- slight variation in classes 11 & 12.Each cycle is further split into the optimum number of periods required to complete the course in the cycle.
We are in the process of preparing assignment booklets based on the abovementioned scheme, which would be made available to the students in April. The booklets would help students appreciate & fully grasp the lessons as well as get the required time to supplement their learning with practical work. Detailed syllabi & references would also be included in the booklets besides important questions. We are confident that the system will prove to be extremely efficient. It would help ensure parity of work across all sections & provide advance information regarding the syllabi to be covered & stipulated time period to the students and parents. It is a boon for students who have had to take leave due to unforeseen circumstances.
All this couldn’t have been possible without your unwavering support & encouragement. Please accept our heartfelt appreciation of the same.
We would like to extend our best wishes & blessings to all students appearing for the Board exams in March. Here’s praying that your journey is decorated with success & awards galore.
