Panchmahotsava (Diwali) Celebrations

The students of Class III presented an enthralling Special Assembly on Panchmahotsav – the 5 day long celebration of Diwali, on the Thursday, 15th of October 2009.  It was performed in the form of a mesmerizing dance – drama.  The assembly began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp accompanied by the Ganesh Stuti.  This was followed by the beginning of the 5 day long celebration with Dhanteras, after which comes “Narak Chaturdashi” or Chhoti Diwali, then the main day Deepawali, followed by Vishwakarma Pooja and ending with Bhai Dooj.  The confident children of Class III presented captivating snippets of mythology interspersed with the Hanuman Dance, the Sagar Manthan and the joyful Diya dance which culminated with the Lakshmi Poojan.
The Prinicpal, Mrs. Jyoti Gupta, the Chief Guest Dr. Aditya Arya, JCP, President (Security) and the Primary Incharge, Mrs. Suhani Daur motivated the students with their words of encouragement.
All the students & parents also took a pledge to celebrate a ‘Green and Eco-friendly’ Diwali by saying No to Crackers.
The programme was followed by an attempt to create awareness about the harmful effects of bursting crackers by conducting an anti-cracker campaign.  This campaign was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Dr. Aditya Arya after which the students of classes V-XII went to the Select City Walk Mall, Saket. 
They performed a Street Play and distributed pamphlets the educate the populace about the same.
