INTRA –CLASS ACTIVITY-JANUARY

The children of Pre School revised their capital letters and phonics through a musical activity on January 21st 2010.The main objective behind this was to make their phonics more potent. All the children sat in a big round circle and passed the bowl having chits of different letters on melodious foot tapping music. When the music stopped the child holding the bowl got the chance to pick one chit and had to speak the letter and the objects that started with that corresponding letter.

Recapitulation of letters:The children of Pre School revised the capital letters & phonics through an activity. The children were blind folded and were asked to pick up one card from the bowl. Each card had a letter written on it. They were then told to show it to the whole class and say the letter loudly with its corresponding   sound .The activity was followed up by: building up word vocabulary in which all the kids were very excited to give words with the related letter. For example the child who took out the letter ‘S’ card, said the letter and its sound and also a word that started with letter ‘ S ‘. Others joined in to make a word chain with ‘S’

 

Recapitulation of numbers:

The children of Pre School revised the numbers through an interesting activity. They were asked to take out a card from a bowl. Each card had different numbers written on it. The students had to speak the number loudly and had to collect the related objects with that number, the child was also free to do the actions or to tell particular thing related to that number. For example one child showed 5 fingers with number 5, another child said the months with number 12 and one student just clapped 16 times for number 16. The activity was enjoyed by the students.

PRE-PRIMARY INTRA CLASS ACTIVITIES(January)

The month of January was full of interesting activities for the young learners of Pre-Primary.
Each section carried out a different activity, which apart from being captivating for the kids, also enhanced
their knowledge.
KG-A: PICTURE COMPOSITION
Children of KG-A were involved in a very creative activity of picture composition. They were given a
picture at random and were supposed to talk about it. It enhanced their observation skills and
at the
same time improved their vocabulary.

KG-B: KNOWING THE ANIMAL WORLD
Showed pictures of animals with different habitats on the I-Board. Special characteristics and features of
every animal were discussed in a question-answer format. Five different animals from land, water and air
were taken. This also created sensitivity amongst children towards the animal life.

KG-C: WORD FORMATION-Hindi
Word Formation was done through flash cards. The kids joined two akshars to make a meaningful word. The activity enhanced their knowledge of Hindi and they learnt few new words.

KG-D: SUBTRACTION and TAMBOLA
Subtraction with the help of live examples like beads, match sticks and crayons was done in the class and
also through I- Board. Maths was also made interesting through a game of Tambola where the kids had to
strike off the number being called out.

KG-E: ONE MINUTE GAME
25 Pictures of CVC words were drawn on the black board. The children saw and recalled the words and wrote
as many words in one minute. Max. score was 17/25

KG-F: DUM CHARADE’
Dum charade’ was played with children wherein they had to pick a chit and enact the word written and
rest of the children had to guess the word being enacted. This was a fun activity which also involved
learning.

Fancy Dress Competition

The little kids of pre-school had a fun filled day with lots of excitement as they were dressed up in their favourite cartoon character. The competition was held on 5th February 2010. One got to see varied characters like Superman and Spider man, Mermaids,Oswald, Telly Tubbies, Power puff girls, Mickey and Minnie mouse, Mr. Bean, Noddy, Tom and Jerry and a cute Tinkle Bell too. It was indeed a daunting task to choose the winner! The kids who grabbed the top positions were:

MUFFINS IN THE TIFFINS
The children from the Pre School immensely enjoyed the “Kids in the Kitchen” activity in which they decorated their muffins with colorful gems and spread their favorite chocolate over it. The activity was held on Friday, February 19, 2010.
