As part of the Earth Day Celebrations, an ‘Afforestation’ activity was organised for the students of VIII Class students on 16th April, 2015.
The students went to a specially prepared plot in a corner of school ground accompanied by their Social Studies teachers. The Head of School Gardeners demonstrated the process of planting a sapling and distributed the saplings and spades to groups of students. With lots of teasing and ‘precise directions’ to correctly use the spade, plant the sapling and to support it, the saplings were planted and sprinkled with water. Satisfied with their spadework, the students happily posed for photographs and returned to their respective classrooms.
Back in their classrooms, the social studies teachers were asked by students to organise such an activity once a month at least and to be given permission ‘to monitor the progress of their plants’!!
